The monochrome photographs of Central Illusion are showing Budapest’s emblematic buildings dating back to the turn of the century from a uniform, frontal view illuminated by night. Despite the uniformity of this series’ composition, the works are not objective: light and darkness are creating a dramatic contrast in the pictures, whereas the absorbing blackness of the surrounding buildings is adding ominous depth to the space and closes the buildings depicted in an independent, peaceful dimension. The unflinching symmetry of the photographs is reinforcing out-of-time illusion better; as if every piece of the series created a self-contained universe.
